Waters Upton MIs - Blantern, Robert, Mary Ann and John

Although Mary Ann Blantern, daughter of Robert Blantern and his wife Mary Ann, was baptised at Great Bolas on 12 Nov 1834, it appears that she was actually born in the parish of Waters Upton. Mary’s marriage to Henry Swinnerton was registered at Newport, Shropshire in the March quarter of 1881 and took place at High Offley in Staffordshire. The 1881 census shows the newly married couple living in Wolverhampton, where Henry was working as a master butcher. By 1891 however Mary Ann was a widow and living alone, on her own means, at Waters Upton.

For more on Mary Ann’s parents, see Memorial Inscriptions: Blantern.
