Memorial Inscriptions in the River Lane Cemetery

The pages in this section will feature photos of some of the gravestones and other memorials in the cemetery on River Lane, and transcriptions of their memorial / monumental inscriptions. The earliest burial at this location appears to date from 1933 (Joseph Williams) and the latest, at the time of writing (October 2023), was in 2022.

I have photographed all of the gravestones, and transcribed all of the legible inscriptions, but the focus here will be on those relating to people who lived in Waters Upton during the period up to and including the Second World War. For those grave markers not falling into that category, I have included abstracts (rather than full transcripts) of the inscriptions, and no photos.

The content of this section is arranged by rows (row 1 being the Westernmost, the furthest from the cemetery entrance); within each row, MIs are given in order from South to North (left to right as viewed from the cemetery entrance).
