The Cold Hatton Association

Notices from, and reports mentioning, the Cold Hatton Association for the Prosecution of Felons, which included members from Waters Upton. Plus, in the decade leading up to the Association’s formation in 1769, notices from those prosecution associations in Shropshire which pre-dated it. Also, a notice from one other prosecution society which included a Waters Upton member. Spellings and punctuation are as printed, but in lists of members I have highlighted place names in bold, and Waters Upton in red. In addition to the decade index below, I hope to add a name index in due course.

For more information about the subject of this page, see my blog post The Cold Hatton Association for the Prosecution of Felons.

Note: Two corrections have been made by hand to this notice, in the copy of the paper held by the British Library and scanned by the British Newspaper Archive. In the case of Thomas Matthews of Waters Upton, ‘Thomas’ has been crossed through and ‘Ann’ written after ‘Matthews’. And to the side of ‘Peter Matthews’ and ‘Sleap’, ‘John Rider’ has been written, with a ‘^’ indicating that the name was added to those of Crudgington. View a clipping at Findmypast 🡕.
